When we were on Isle of Wight we also took in the Tennyson Trail. Fantastic views on this off road route. Recommended.
The "Tenny Trail" is a great ride, especially when you've just railed down the last 300 metres and found yourself conveniently having a few beers with your mates in The Waverley after our annual Christmas trail.

I live five minutes away from the Newport end of the Tennyson Trail and have ridden it so many times. The Shepherds Trail, which also starts in the same area, but heads south, is also a sweet ride. Loads of single track, rolling fields, chalk ridges..........perfect.

We have about 240 miles of bridleways over here (on an island 26 miles X 13 miles), so for anyone wanting a place to go mountain biking you're well sorted.

Tend to do more on the road bike these days, but the Christmas trail, the Seven Hills Killer and the ride in to the sun on midsummer day are highlights for me.

Liked the pub where you can feed the trout in the pool / stream. Can't remember the name of it? Good beer and food - but everything tastes great when you are having a great time.

That would be The Crown Inn at Shorwell, just off the Tennyson Trail. Me and a mate stopped there for a cheeky pint once when we were half way through day 2 of a Trailquest MTB orienteering event we got back to the event venue 20 minutes late, got docked 20 points as a result, and missed winning the whole event by...............yep, 20 points. Still came third though, but it was definitely a lesson learned!

@bikeman66 That's the one. The decent across the golf course down to Freshwater Bay was good, we had a clear sunny day and could see the cliffs and Needles in the distance. We were on a day trip whilst on a weeks stay in the New Forest. Did the CTC 'Gridiron' again that year as well.
