People don't buy cars now, either a loan or cash. Leasing is it. That's why most folk are driving round in fancy cars. Not for me.
If I can't own it I don't buy it. That's how I can afford to sit on my arris all day instead of working until I'm eleventy-eight to make the repayments.

They made some really good bikes in the past. I remember my Inbred - a really, really good machine, actually amazing for £400. It was a really good steel MTB complete at the same price as a Halfords cheapie.

I think their biggest challenge is the lack of personal finance deals around the corner and the fact that after a while, you realise all their "sales" are smoke and mirrors. They remind me of the car dealership I visited last year when I was hiring a van and noticed the sign saying they didn't accept cash payments for anything - it struck me then that rather than being a company that sold cars, they were a company that sold loans.

With a free car thrown in!

Back to Planet X, just clicked on a pair of Bibs, also a water bottle and a can of spray lube for kids bikes (12” and 14” wheels). Money taken so hope it arrives!

Leasing is sure fire way to make yourself poor.

Leasing can be a better option for a unreliable premium brand of car rather than buying second-hand and paying expensive repairs. In that instance you end up with a new premium brand car and less outgoings. Of course the much more logical approach is to buy a reliable car either new or s/hand with reasonable service and repair costs.

That's how almost any car dealership works from main dealers to small forecourts. There is more profit in finance and add on packages (paint protection, insurances etc) than there is in the vehicle

That said, it's usually cheaper than PCP and you don't end up paying to maintain and service a car you that someone else owns like PCP customers have to. PCP is absurd at so many levels it's unfathomable.

Maintenance budget is factored in when the deal gets put together and as a rule there is usually a surplus left when the car is handed back so the person leasing is paying a bit more than they should. Bit of extra profit. However, this is often offset by lease companies getting big discounts from what the cars should cost

It only pays for the end user if you lease a car with questionable reliability that's always having money thrown at it or get through service items quickly due to the way it's being driven.

Apparent the planet X money worries are over

They sold a couple of pairs of bib shorts yesterday

I should have my two pairs of bibs (much needed) and an extra lid (as a spare at £9.99) arriving today.

Looking forward to these two receiving the same smart arse comment that was directed at me.

Are there really any unreliable cars these days ? - I ve drove low end Citroen and Peugeot for well over 20 years with very few problems. Serviced once a year from a non franchise mechanic.
