I have had a bottle chucked at me from a boozer, this was during a Old Firm match so not a real shocker as it sounds. I also, the same part of road but a diffrent night, had a smoked sausage chucked at me! These are nothing in comparison to having something chucked in your face mind. Though I think the bawbags in the car would have done this to a open car, motorbike, ped or however crossed their path at that time... evil little twunts

i thought it was water at first but it began to dry and basically everything was really sticky! but i kept doing the intervals in the end
Has this happened to anyone else?

Yup. Possibly some sort of sugary non-diet drink. Happened to me more than once, never managed to get the plates. Report it if you did.

They could get you just the same if you were on the pavement, and you probably don't want to be doing intervals in the nice summer weather on a trainer, unless you've got a really big fan.

i think it was that hydro-active lucozade, because it had a peculiar taste (stupid but i was very curious!)
I was very shocked, tried to read the numberplate but it was one of those personalized ones with narrow fonts and my eyes are terrible anyway
whenever a silver saloon even comes close i'll probably be swerving or hitting the brakes erratically!
but i was most annoyed it could have been something corrosive to my precious carbon steed if you know what i mean

If you look at the road accident statistics one of the most common accidents involves teenagers cycling on the pavement being hit as they cross minor roads with traffic turning off the major road. Most pavement cyclists do so out of fear and lack of adequate training, which is one reason why Primary School children in Edinburgh and now being taught to cycle on the road.

I still see the kids who've done their Bikeability training at my kid's school riding on the pavement afterwards. I can understand given the standard of driving near the school, which includes driving along the pavement for 100 m so they can get past a car or two.

I sometimes feel like inviting those I know to cycle in front of me on the road, but don't know if their parents have said they must go on the pavement. I look on the positive side that at least they are getting in the habit of cycling on a daily basis ... and the elder brothers of those children (now at secondary) I've seen cycling on the road so maybe for some it takes a wee while to build up the confidence.

It is also shocking, when you look at the road accident statistic, how many pedestrians are hit by cars driving on the pavements, as well...
