So dangerous they were eventually declared illegal to use on the road and the government ordered them all to be destroyed

There are still some on the road. Only the Government-owned ones were scrapped.

They became arguably more dangerous when the low-powered Villiers engine was replaced by a Greaves which would take them well over the national speed limit.

Doesn’t bear thinking about does it, imagine hitting anything in one of those at any speed, wouldn’t have a good outcome.

Nicely restored Citroen bread van parked up in Stirling, evidently repurposed as a coffee shop. I remember these as a kid delivering baguettes to the campsites when we were on holiday in France. I don't think they were ever officially imported so only LHD - though this hardly matters as you really aren't going to be doing any overtaking ! I saw one with a bumper sticker "if you think I'm going slow, wait till I go uphill"

You could upgrade them quite easily with a DS engine & gearbox.
