I wonder if a lot people think a GT and a Sports Car are the same thing? I love the whole mile eating nature of a true GT over the wannabe race car thing.

That's all fair enough but not a reason to have a horrid sludge box though is it?

Forum Stalwart (won't take the hint and leave...)

Oh for goodness sake. You have one of the finest examples of Fast Ford engineering, tuned to exceed levels achieved by the mighty standard Sierra Cosworth. And then you only drive 5,000 miles in it. People who do that should be taken out and shot*, and the car handed over to someone who will actually appreciate what is under the bonnet.

*Hyperbole intended to emphasis the insanity of the poster, as much as that of the car owner, and should in no way be considered as a genuine desire for firearm violence, either by the writer or by anyone reading the post.**

** Explanation added as although this is a UK forum and readers from there will appreciate the humour, it is open for people in other countries to view***

In a car designed for crossing continents, a 3-speed Borg Warner seems the perfect transmission choice tbh.

Contrast with the Bora, where no auto was offered as an option.

Surely an auto is for driving in stop-start traffic queues? Crossing continents on clear roads, and sweeping curves, you want a proper gearbox
