On reflection and reviewing the thread and contemplating my own posts and thoughts, i would like to state for the record I was wrong about this website not being a community, very wrong.

There are some very helpful, kind, knowledgeable and generous contributors to the various nodes on this website, from whom I have benefited a great deal.

I have met a few of the folks that post here and on the whole they were a very nice people.

I retract my previous statement and apologise unreservedly.

Yes young Ed was one of the better contributors, he was always positive and, due to his age (was he 16?) he had no pretensions about always proving himself right.

That's not necessarily a characteristic of that age. Makes him sound very mature.
Never met him but was that the one who went for a very long ride?

Don't think so. It was before I left for Asia so pre-2014. He almost certainly would've graduated by now.
