The Kegworth air crash did not take place at Kegworth.

The term 'Welsh' is a compound English word.

It stems from the anti-social habit of locals who assumed all strangers were English and were seen as a rival for the affections of the sexiest sheep that were kept hidden.

A stranger entering a pub, would hear the question 'English?' whispered, and then the response 'well sshh' and the pub would largely go quiet rather than risk revealing the location, apart from a few who would burble incoherently due to the pressure.

Toenails are made of the same dead skin tissue as fingernails but are two to three times thicker.

This statement is still true if 'toenails' is replaced with 'brummies'.

EDIT. No offence to brummies, I had to pick on some group or other.

One popular belief that turns out to be true - is that Rome was not built in a day.

In fact, using the the date that we believe the city was originally founded and the fact that the city has been sacked and rebuilt several times, it is estimated that Rome was built in approximately 1,010,000 days

Of course, had there been any pubs near by, this would have taken a lot longer
