At the risk of raising the tone, the Zulu king in the film is played by his own grandson, Chief Butelhezi, a major figure in the anti-apartheid struggle and subsequently government minister.

Upon hearing of this Stanley Baker was so incensed that he shot him following the filming of Zulu.

The police quickly determined Baker as the suspect, and Baker promptly went on the run in south africa.
