I like that story but I'm not convinced it stands up.
Personally I think it's a load of balls.

In ancient Rome, two men taking an oath of allegiance held each other's testicles, and men held their own testicles as a sign of truthfulness while bearing witness in a public forum. The Romans found a word to describe this practice but didn't invent the practice itself. Other primates had already been doing this for millions of years. Two male baboons who cooperate with each other by forming aggressive alliances against other baboons frequently fondle each other's genitalia.
I swear it to be true.

Is that directed at me? I always do my research.

testicle, n.
Pronunciation: /ˈtɛstɪk(ə)l/
Etymology: < Latin testiculus, diminutive < testis testis n.2: see -cule suffix. Compare French testicule, Spanish testiculo, Portuguese testiculo, Italian testicolo

testify, v.
Pronunciation:
/ˈtɛstɪfʌɪ/
Etymology: < late or medieval Latin testificāre, classical Latin testificārī to bear witness, proclaim, < testis witness + ficus making: see -fy suffix. So obsolete French testifier (16th cent.).

P.S. XKCD?

Also, as stated, the bible. "
Abraham said to the senior servant in his household, the steward of all his property, 'Place your hand under my thigh: I am going to make you swear by Yahweh

Militarily, the air wing of a single Nimitz or Ford class carrier is a match for any countries entire air force, other than their own.

A single Nimitz or Ford carrier group is designed to be a match for any two entire navies at once.

Although the US in theory operates 11 carriers (required by US law would you believe), the reality is they have 10 actually capable of operations. Of those 10, at any one time 7 of them will not be operational. Refuelling and refitting a nuclear carrier takes 18 months (as the French are discovering just now) then you've got working up time etc. In a war situation or for the recent show of force they could surge that to 6 or 7 but that has knock-on effects down the line for maintenance queues.

So the US effectively have 3 carriers at any one time which is why they have been very helpful to the RN. When our carriers are up and running it's effectively a 25% increase in deckspace for the US.
