Good luck and Welcome :welcome: . If you can get away without 4 wheels I'd go for it. Some of us don't have the option.

Is it your firm that is giving the interest free loan or have they signed up to C2W scheme?
Thanks for the welcome guitarpete, I'll still have the missus's motor if I need it. But all my other regular commutes are not long distance so should be able to get by without a car.

I work in a University in London, they're providing the loan. Parking is very limited and traffic in and around the campus can be horrendous, so there is a big push to go green.

Hello.

I have a feeling I will be visiting this site fairly frequently over the next few months. Got into mountain biking a couple of years ago, but I am a bit big for it and I have fallen and hurt myself a few times too often. So I am taking to road riding and the occasional 'soft trail'.

Good to know you all.

Hi all. Another newbie - although I don't suppose I count as as a new cyclist. Used to ride mostly mountain bikes, back in the days before suspension and clipless pedals. Kids these days huh.

Hi guys,

I am a relatively new but older biker from Essex. Started a couple of years ago on my sons old bike (Halfords Carrearer?) and over the last year or so got the bug.
Now up to about 30 miles ish per outing (max), looking to get better bike on cycle to work scheme soon and would just love to do LEJOG one day.

Been watching site for acouple of weeks and it seems a great way of sharing information. Too old to get into racing but just love to get out on the country lanes round here.

Cheers

Hello everyone,
I'm a brand newbie too!
Just purchased a dawes 400 and am excitedley waiting its arrival so I can take it out on the road (prob for about 10 mins!)
I havent cycled more than 3/4 times since I left school, and this will be my first proper road bike, so please wish me luck.
Im trying to lose some weight but also want to do a charity cycle race next year as well as simply enjoying the fresh air and (flat) countryside in Fenland.
There will no doubt be loads of questions I shall be asking you guys when I get going, this looks like a great place for help.
Cheers evryone

Hello everyone

I've just registered but made my first post before I said "hello". I'm in Northampton and bought my bike a few months back and I'm loving it! I seem to be buying more accessories for my bike than I do my 4 x 4! Anyway, it's great exercise and good fun, even though I've just turned 60, I feel 59 again (apart from the odd twinge that is)! If anyone in and around Northampton wants to team up I'd be pleased to hear from them.

Hello all, I'm a student and I just bought a cheap old dawes street bike to save on bus and taxi fares. Unfortunately, this old bike has reminded me how satisfying cycling is, so I might be in for an upgrade sooner than I'd have planned

As for what I'd upgrade to, I love a good looking cycle and older frames. With a bit of studying this could be the start of something rather fun

I can say hi too can't I? I'm not too late?? I couldn't ride a bike until I was in my 30's, (which I'm not in anymore!) But I now have 4 mtb's and 2 racing bikes (mostly in my shed), so I think I should be allowed to say HELLO SHAUN along with all the greats????
