Hello folks. I've just found this forum with the aid of Mr Google. I live in retirement overseas on the Isle of Wight and am now well into my 80th year. I don't do so much cycling as I should due to various other interests, such as walking, music and free flight model aeroplanes, but I endeavour to do the annual 65 mile round the Island Randonnee each May. All our family, including grandchildren, cycle to a greater or lesser extent and my eldest son is a keen unicyclist. Our daughter and son-in-law are at present on a charity ride from London to Paris in aid of the British Legion. My "Sunday best" bike dates originally from 1955, when I bought the frame for £3 in Claude Butler's sale. At the time, the whole thing cost me around £15 to put together. A few years back, my eldest son completely modernised it, but Its still not as comfortable as I would like for long rides. That is the main reason I've joined this forum to get advice on a more comfortable steed.
Cheers,
John.

Hello all,

Looking forward to getting to know the folks here.

Started cycling to work on a regular basis a couple of years ago. I have reached that age when I either need to stop eating chocolate or start exercising - well I was never going to stop munching Yorkies :-)

Hi everyone

New to the forum and to 'serious' cycling (by serious I mean I can now do it without being *actually* dead after a mile). Having been a dedicated runner for several years and intermittently injured I turned to cycling to try and retain the fitness levels and stop me turning in to Jabba's big sister.

I'm now finding cycling a really pleasant challenge that seems to be complimenting what little running I do so I'm looking to train properly and enter some road and MTB races as well as duathlons (what can I say, I'm a slave to running).

Hi all :hello: Just signed up after googling Cycling Forums in UK and hey presto! this looks like an interesting forum with plenty of help and advise. After numerous attempts to get back into biking after a ten year break - my Hubby has just bought me a new Kona 'Fire Mountain' which I felt I had to justify, now I just can't get enough and find it's me pushing Him into going out more than twice a week. I live in the North East (Teesside area) so if anyone has any interesting rides to share!? look forward to hearing from you. Just done a great one this week http://explore.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/os_routes/show/4129 although found it to be 25 miles by my bike computor - Well here's looking forward to sharing my trials and tribulations.

Hi from Scotland. Trying to find the best forum and this looks like it might be it.

Since a young age I've loved cycling. I cycled for pleasure, later to school now for pleasure and work commute.

I have 2 bikes. A kona explosif 04/05?? And I recently got an old touring bike, it has a Reynolds 531s frame, the previous owner put flat mtb style bars on it, new brakes, seat post, seat and pedals. All quality parts. It's a very light bike. A steal at £35! $54 for our us forumites. I did consider making it single speed but I'm enjoying it as is.

See you on the forums!

Derek.
