Hi From not so sunny Ealing,

I've emigrated from Geordieland where I raced in the 60s as a junior, & then started riding & racing again in my late 50s after a short 30+ year break.

I'm not riding right now as I was knocked off my bike by a bendy bus in Mallorca & broke my hip - does anyone have any ideas about solving the problem of a 2cm shorted right leg? The pedal/shoe set up on the UK bike is Shimano and I guess that I really need a 2 cm metal block on the sole of the shoe with the pedal clip bolted to that.

any other thoughts?

Hi, I'm a 'returning' cyclist from Kent. Mostly short rides 8-15 miles on hybrid type rides, looking forward to improving saddle comfort as I put the miles on!

Hi from Leeds, I'm a cyclist & Triathlete.
Recently my wife has also taken up cycling which is great
But due to arthritis in her hands she has trouble breaking mainly
Due to the reach when on the drops and the force needed
When on the hoods. Does anyone know of any female specific road
Levers on the Market. Ie smaller than standard.

Hello and welcome to the CC forums. :hello:

Sorry to hear about your accident - maybe you should post this in "Beginners" or the "Cafe" for a better response(not many people view the WM, unfortunately).

Have you ever thought of trying a recumbent bike or tri-cycle. :becool:

Good luck.

Maybe you would get a better response to your questions on another part of the forum, say the "Cafe," "Know How" or "Beginners" sections?

...or perhaps a different type of bike would be better - there are now many fast flatbar road bikes on the market.

Good luck!

Hello and welcome to the CC forums. :hello:

Have a look at our other sections and post any questions you may like answered there - as these tend to have more views than the welcome mat.

Good luck!

Hello.
Not only is this my first reply it is my first attempt at a blog. My reason for taking up cycling again is Type 2 diabetes. At 61, after a fit active sporting life ,I have gained weight and need to eat healthily and exercise appropriately. For 4 months I have been back on my new bike- a touring type unisex type. I am so pleased with my progress that I am trying the Pedal for Scotland 50 mile effort soon.
Could you please pass on any practical and motivating tips for cycling on the day?
I was a little worried to notice some people are referring to times. Is that important? I have been succesful in riding up tp 24 hilly miles in the East Neuk of Fife by enjoying the time and looking at the scenery and listening to my MP4.

Thanks RR

Hello RR and welcome to CC from across the Forth in Falkirk. :hello:

Please post your questions on "Beginners" "Fitness" or on the "Cafe" as you'll get more of a response there. Unfortunately only a few CCers take time out to read this section once they're fully into the swing of the other sections.

Good luck with the Cycling and I'll look forward to seeing posts from you in the future.

All the best.

Hi Folks
Well I have taken the plunge and bought a new old bike, road that is. I have been turning up the rough stuff for a few years and have now decided to give this road biking a crack. Well I say me, I should say my wife and I. I decided upon a Ribble by chance and it fits like a glove. Well here comes a question. I have just bought a bike for my wife, again second hand I might add, and she loves it. The frame I would like to find a bit more about. It was apparently made for a Belgium team.....Cougar I believe. The frame is clover leaf in section, made of aluminium and I 've been told it looks like a Colango. If that means anything to anyone.
Could anyone help as to the origin of the frame. The person who I bought it off was not too sure and could not give me any info.

Thanks for any help........Tony

Hi Folks

Thanks for any help........Tony

Hello Tony and welcome to the CC forums. :hello:

If I were you I'd post this in another section - to maximise interest. As I've said to the others try "Beginners," "Cafe" or any of the other forum that you think could be more suitable.

Good luck - hopefully you'll get an answer to your query.
