Hello Jen and welcome to the CC forums from central Scotland. :hello:

The more you use the roads the more your confidence will build.

Maybe reading this book will help? [attachment=490:cover.jpg]

No probs - I've not cycled to Bowling prefering to go East along the canal(as it passes several mates houses) towards Edinburgh.

Although there are plenty of routes around the Falkirk Wheel itself - Roman Wall / Forts etc + several MTB tracks.

This thread by joemaxi earlier in the year discusses exactly that subject though.

Not trying to be cheeky Jen - but it's a canal - it either goes west(Glasgow) or east(Embra). When you get there and your standing on the footpath looking at the water - left = east and right = west. ;) The low canal(Forth and Clyde) goes right to Glasgow and the high canal(the Union) goes left to Edinburgh.
I think there are trecking maps available from the Info bit at the wheel itself.

Good luck let us know how you get on? :hello:

Okay, so you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello - believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Hello all,

Mark from sarf east London here. Most of my cycling at the moment is commuting into The City, although last Saturday rode a fantastic London-Brighton route. Did 84 miles in total. Not bad for a fat lad.

I ride a Surly LHT and aim to get into touring proper ASAP.

Be safe out there.

Mark
