Hello all,

Just a quick one to say hi and that from Kent and that I'm new to cycling...well other than bombing around on a bike when I was 10. This time though its a lil more serious. I stopped smoking 2.5 years ago and I'm getting fat and need to get fit. I'm a complete noob and will be using an old MTB to get me started. Already brought new brakes, levers etc, I've already posted a problem so expect to hear more from me soon hehe.

Thanks

Hello, I'm new here. I've been biking for the past 10 years or so, but only in the past couple of years have I made it a daily thing. I live in San Francisco (U.S.) and commute to work by bike. I've never done a long bike ride. Perhaps when my kids (ages 5 and 8) are older, I will be able to train for a long ride. I'm not sure what else to say about myself. I look forward to benefiting from your combined knowledge.

Hello,
I'm Rob, hope everyone is having a great year so far. I've always enjoyed cycling, with my favorite time coming when I'd not been on a bike for about 10 years. Got an email from a friend who works at a charity, someone had dropped out of 10 day cycling tour of South Africa and would I like to go. So with no practice, no bike riding for years off I went, and lived (just) to ride again.

Hi folks, Im Clarky and im from Dalkeith in Midlothian. I recently got into cycling when I rescued an old mountain bike from a skip. I decided to get back into cycling as I loved it as a child but forgot all about it as soon as I had a driving licence.

That was nearly 20 years ago and almost 2 decades of driving everywhere, smoking, drinking and not eating very well had left me tipping the scales at 18.5 stone and I decided enough was enough. I'v been commuting 17.5 miles a day for the last 5 months on my trusty old steed and have shed 3 stone.

I'm applying to my work's bike to work scheme and yesterday picked out a nice hybrid ride which I should receive in April. Im really enjoying cycling and feel loads better for it and I hope to meet a few people from my area to cycle with. Im not interested in joining an official club or racing or time trials, im more interested in it for health and fun reasons.

Cheers

Hi everyone. I live in London and have been commuting for a year. Before that I lived in Spain for 6 years where the weather made for some lovely mountain biking.
I'm currently looking for commuting alternatives to High Street Kensington as it's doing my blood pressure no good at all! Is there a part of the forum to ask for advice on commuting routes?

Hi, Maud here, up cycled my bike from back to bikes ( www.back2bikes.org.uk ) a couple of years ago and have totally failed to use it since! Hoping to get some inspiration to get going from this lovely forum, I've had a look around and it seems like a great place to be
