Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Hello all, my first post, and a little background.

I'm tony, 48 years young soon, complete with middle age spread.

In july 2011 I was standing in my front garden , having a coffee and a cigarette watching he Liverpool to Chester sportive go past my house, after watching all the different types of cyclist ride past , I thought , I would like to do that, so a week later gave up smoking, and got a hybrid on the bike to work scheme in the November, about 12 months later I swapped this for a road bike ( claud butler echelon ) but after nearly getting knocked off by a white van, I resorted back to a hybrid and the tracks again. But I was yearning for the road again not long after.
So in feb this year I thought I'm not going to let some idiot spoil my cycling, so I went out and bought another road bike, which I am a lot more confident on than last time.
I have also set myself a goal for 2015 my 50 th year, and that is to do a JOGLE for Claire house my local children's hospice. I have had an e -mail to meet up with them to discuss the ride, which I have yet to arrange. At present I am just back on my bike this week , after 6 weeks off with a back injury, I am currently up to 10 mile rides around willaston. Lots more training to do, and looking forward to it .thats it thanks for reading.

Tony.

Hi all.. found this site last night after relising ive been bitten by the biking bug!..

Im a 24yearold .. I do hunting so I walk alot but for years my dad has said he would like to do the coast to coast on a bike... thinking I was fit enough I decided to join him in his training for it ready for july... my first time on a bike since I was 13 was 2 weeks ago and what a shock it was... it killed me.. I have a mountain bike because we do both onroad and old rail tracks etc. but maybe end od the year I might have more pennys and I will get a road bike too.. im becoming aaddicted to cycling just off 2 weeks of it!

Sorry for spelling mistakes if any im using a touch screen phone with sausage fingers!

How do.. Toeknee

Don't let the idiots get to you:smile: . I am 48 next month and have just returned to cycling after 25 years off the things. I have a few goals for my fiftieth year but none as noble as yours, although I have always fancied the Jogle I am signing up for a charity 60 soon but I am doing regular 60ish mile rides at the mo so not a big sacrifice for me. Keep getting out on the bike and getting the miles in. I started riding again ( other than the bike in my Avatar)in mid Feb and have soon built up the miles so you should be fine. there are plenty of people on here who have done the Jogle so you should be able to get plenty of advice.

good luck and enjoy! Gaz

Toeknee and Col,

you will both get a few more welcomes yet, but you have done the same as I did (and plenty of others) and posted in this thread. I am still not sure but I think you have to start a new thread in this section to meet everyone, Pat will be along soon maybe she can advise?.

Tony, my lad goes to York which gives me a chance of a nice run out 25 miles each way took me a while before I could do the distance but I can bug him a bit for cuppa on a Sunday morning. There is some great cycling here abouts, north of Leeds is good if you bring the bike with you when you next pick your lad up.
