Hello,

I've just joined the forum, after spending a few very informative hours reading various members advice/suggestions.

I'm just getting into cycling having just bought a Carrera road bike from Halfords. I've enjoyed my first few rides, but quickly realised that I'm going to have to shed a few pounds to get over the hills . . . .

Hi everyone.

Have just started getting back in to cycling after doing very little for the last 5 years. Nothing to serious so far, just the short commute to work and few miles here and there on my days off.

I have been enjoying it so much I have decided to treat my self to a new bike, the highly recommend Btwin Triban 3. Its the first time I have ever owned a road bike and I'm very excited about it.

Hi everyone,

I am Ian, from Valencia in Spain. I work for Cycle Fiesta, running cycling holidays which is a dream job for me, because, like most people here I guess, I am slightly obsessed with cycling!

Hi from SW London. I've been dithering about saying hi, as it's my first time on any sort of online forum. I ride a souped up second hand folding bike (don't have much space for a full size bike as I flat share, yet wanted to be able to cycle), a present from my boyfriend (the best one he ever gave me ^_^). I've decided to take up cycling again (I used to ride a lot as a kid, as where I come from riding a bike/owning a grow-up one is a ride of passage) when I saw roadies zooming past, whilst stuck on the bus. I've been riding around London for over 2 years now and love it!

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun
Hello all, I'm 56 years young, and rekindled my love of cycling last summer.
Since then I've commuted to work almost every day (weather permitting !)
It's only 5 miles a day, but it all helps. Also like to get out and about at week-ends.
Recently treated myself to a Specialized road bike (see pic) Love it to bits !
I'm from Corby, Northamptonshire
ps hoping to do the London to Brighton bike ride in June

a -22 wind chill. I see lot's of lively discussion on this site, and the people very informative. Thank's for having me.

Hi,

Just joined the forum. I am based in Newcastle and currently cycle on a reasonably regular basis.

My current livery comprises a Dale F800SL and a Trek Fuel EX8. I also have a Trek Alpha 2.5 in the garage in pieces after being T-boned by a car at a roundabout, not the most pleasant of experiences, however must praise the ambulance crew!

I am in the process of replacing the aforementioned road bike with a steel framed Shand, built in Scotland. And so am waiting just awaiting my slot in their workflow for production to start.

Hi everyone, I'm new to this site (and relatively new to cycling). Just got myself a BMC road bike (after a hybrid) so currently learning how to work the shoes and gears (not very successfully). Based in Bucks. Its been interesting reading some of the very lively discussions on here - really useful though

Hiya folks.. A quick introduction.
I'm a 60 year old fan of cycling. Got re-interested in it 5 years ago and have since become addicted (and a lot lighter & fitter!!)
My present main bikes are a Cannondale SL4 2011 model for Off Road use, and a Giant Defy2 for the roads. I do a couple of charity rides a year, usually the London Brighton 52 miler for British Heart Foundation and the London Bikeathon for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.
Now I've taken the step to start posting, I'll be a regular here I hope..
