Hi. I,m a newbie to the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I have just got back into cycling now my 3 kids have become less of a drain on me and today I met up three other guys from the Ipswich area and we managed a very nice ride through a damp and windy Suffolk countryside.
I live in Martlesham Heath near Ipswich and am just the wrong side of 50.

Don't worry, you'll be past 50 soon enough.

Hello everyone,

After reading some interesting threads I decided to join the forum and give it a go ^_^ so please go easy on me.

I love everything related to cycling, from a gentle ride in the park to racing, although at my age I mostly watch other people racing ^_^.

My first language is Spanish so please forgive me for murdering your language ^_^ but I try my best not to.

Saludos

Ola Sancho and welcome. I think you'll be very happy with the members on this site. I joined earlier this year, and have had lots of good avice and tips from them, I've learned a lot from them already.
Happy posting! :bicycle:

Hello all!
Making my first adventure into 'proper' cycling having used a terrible kids' raleigh for getting around. I've been using advice on these forums for help in assembling my new (old) road bike.
Progress so far: I have a bike and assembled it ok; I've made a semi-ok job of taping the bars; new saddle put on; spd pedals put on; grimey chain and gears now much cleaner.
Absolutely terrified of riding with my feet attached to the pedals!
Problems so far: lacking a tool to lower the handlebars (the saddle is low as I have very short legs for my height) - the current saddle-handlebar height ratio looks ridiculous; the brake wires are kind of annoying as I forgot to tape one of them under the bar tape; getting used to temperamental downtube shifters; saddle had to be forced onto a strangely designed seat tube; lots of components need a paint touch-up.
Excited for my first ride!
