Well I just mounted here and it's straight into top gear! Shucks!

I am on the organizing collective for the World Naked Bike Ride London. As such I have first hand insider information for many of the UK rides (for a small fee! ....naaah! I can't do that! ).

The World Naked Bike Ride is the world's largest demonstration of any kind. We involve some 35,000 riders in upward of 50 locations worldwide, all bar a few (mainly in the southern hemi) virtually simultaneously, viewed in total by millions of people in the streets.

All the rides in England are full-nudity permitted, but we encourage bodypainting 2convey our messages. The three main tenets are.....
  • for increased road safety for cyclists
  • against overdependence on carbon fuels
  • for body freedom & acceptance and against body elitism & perversification
Why naked?
Because if we all wore grey t-shirts nobody would take any notice. But 1,200 naked riders in the streets of London?????

And, hey, it's hellish fun!

My first job here is to open events for the events at Southampton (8th June),London (9th), Brighton(10th) and, more urgently, Portsmouth... this Saturday 26th May.
All the June rides are covered by Bike Week's blanket insurance and I will confirm if Portsmouth is covered asap.

Anything else about me outside WNBR season?
Well, I am a naturist and an obsessive cyclist! But I'm here for more aesthetic reasons.

Hi everyone..... seeU @the WNBR!

Hi folks

I've been a sunny weather commuter for the last year or two, and have just ordered one of Ribble's Sportive models to hopefully get me around quicker than my current steed - an 8 year-old Carrera Subway that has done me proud - some mudguards standing by and I'll be all weather in a couple of weeks. Till it really rains, anyway. The Carrera will remain in the stable as my 'family' bike.

I guess this site uses Gravitar as my pic has magically appeared

I live in Lincolnshire, no naked biking around here.

Even I don't have a cup of tea naked, Pat. You can easily scald yourself.... nasty!

Hi Shaun,

I've posted a few times already but better late than never. I'm from Plymouth, ride an e-bike and ride for commuting purposes and leisure. Trying to get up to 50 miles on a stretch but it's always the saddle that limits me rather than my fitness (and battery!). very good site

Hello,

So you've signed-up, got your user account, now all you need to do is get posting .... ah, um, er, What do I say?

Well, it's dead easy - just say Hello and tell us a little bit about yourself and whereabouts you're from (so we can invite you along to rides!!)

Believe me, once you get that first post under your belt you'll be off!

My name's Shaun by the way, and I own and operate CycleChat.

If you need any help or advice on using the forums, or want to ask a question but don't want to do it publicly - just send me a PM (private message).

Hope you enjoy, and welcome to CycleChat

Cheers,
Shaun

Hi all,

I'm Theo. I'm nearly 30 and been riding a Carrera TDF (2009) for a couple of years just for commuting, but now I'm looking to up my game.
My mate is kindly trading bikes with me - I'm getting his Cannondale Synapse.
I'm in the Royal Navy, so spend most of my time between Portsmouth, Plymouth and Faslane (Scotland) - but Im just about to move home from Gosport to Bournemouth due my wife's job (I will travel home at weekends - we call it a 'weekend warrior'!).
My wife is just taking up cycling too - I bought her a road bike as an anniversary present and she's getting in to it steadily.

Anyway thats me. Hoping to do some charity rides and get a bit more competetive eventually.
