As an overall piece for road bikes, I prefer older styles with horizontal top tubes and thin / regular tubes. However, for some of the details, the way carbon can be used around head tubes and the BB looks glorious.

For off-road bikes, I'm see much of benefit in both old-school steel with no suspension and in modern frame shapes and resolutions to the problems trying to get suspension on a bike.

Oh that's a tough decision, after seeing a number of bikes we've rebuilt at work after a refurb and powder coat I've fallen somewhat in love with the older style of bike. I think it's the decorative sleeves at the welding joints that do it for me, they are simply sublime.

However, I also adore modern looking bike and the aero design does appeal rather....

I think though, my dream is to ride around on a beaut vintage bike dressed in tweed with a bowler, but then that's just a fantasy dammit!

I think it's got to be the vintage style frame, the term elegance springs to mind when I see those thin tubes and sweeping forks.

I don't care what era a bike's from or what it's made of or even what specific purpose it was designed for. From old post office bikes to modern carbon racers, I like 'em all.

I like looking at older bikes but when it comes to riding I like the newest bike style that I can afford.

Carbon fibre has to be treated carefully or it will break as far as I know.

Titanium looks great and will last forever.

Steel is something that you can love and can be crafted into something beautiful. It can also be repaired. I think that modern steel bikes with all the advances in technology and equipment are hard to beat.
