New bike - any other over-researchers on here?

My new bike saga has gone on for about three months or so.

When I buy anything I am a massive over-researcher. Round and round I go looking at all the (ever changing) options and eventually enter a state of purchasing paralysis.

Quite why I am like this is beyond me. It's a cause of mirth for Lovely Wife and for me a big cause of frustration. I know I am doing it but cannot seem to consciously break out of the loop.

Then at some point my old noggin realises how pathetic I am being and I finally make a decision - and, whilst I feel relieved, I then berate myself for being a procrastinating idiot.

NB: I am 100% not indecisive in other areas of my life just when it comes to purchasing things - I just want them to be 100% right for me.

Anyone else suffer from this sort of behaviour?

PS: I'm going to get this...

After ruling out options from Rose, Cube, Whyte, Norco, Cannondale & Jamis.

Yes, and 1000 man hours later the answer is: but the one you like the look of.

A bloke I work with is as tight as a nuns.....

He does he same. An item may cost £25 for arguments sake. He will scour the Internet for hours, then deliberate, then look at the Internet some more. Then he'll trawl the shops.

I tell him that his time is worth a nominal £10 p/h that he could be doing something useful or exciting. He and you will never change!

Not quite as bad as that (and there's nothing wrong with a Ridley BTW  ), but I'm mulling over two options for a new cross bike. One is a known quantity but will need money spent on it while the other possibly isn't quite as good but is a bit of a bargain. Tricky innit....

It's quite enjoyable to research and check out the features you might like in a potential purchase.

No. Make a shortlist based upon my budget, needs, and desirable spec, and then go and ride them. Vet simple.

If I can't ride, I don't buy - been caught out with that one and ended up with a Spesh that never felt right and had several shortcomings that would've been quickly apparent had I cocked a leg over before buying.

I had that problem when I decided to replace my basic camera with something a little more exotic. Eventually a workmate pointed to a newspaper advert (pre-internet) for a camera similar to his and bullied me into ordering it there and then. I never regretted his "asistance"^_^.

I wouldnt have one of those.....a terrible choice.

But seriously. I borrowed one for a day. A lovely bike. Very versatile. It is so comfy and I felt is was virtually impossible to come off.
The tyres it had were a bit too 'chunky' for the roads but they are easily swapped.

I'm currently looking at high end full suspension MTB's but it won't be until next year or later until I get one as I'm still healing, and can't really ride one yet. I have a few on the short list, but there are some right bargains if you wait for end of line sales and you aren't overly bothered about which manufacturer.

Last new bike was arrived at from a shortlist after researching reviews etc and then waiting for the sales to come along and buying the bike with the biggest discount.
