I have just been round to my mate John who is a collector of Carltons amongst other old cycles,

Told him I had just been offered good money for my 1959 Carlton so have sold it, he said well you will need a new project to keep you busy and has given me this bike which I am over the moon with, He said it is a late 1960s bike.

I am very excited to build this bike and he said he has all parts needed to complete the build.

So if anyone is interested I will post pics of the bike as I plod along.

LOL no, this new project has a heavier more substantial frame not by much mind its still very light.

Found some pics on Google images of what the paint would have looked like so I will be dropping it off this week for painting.

The above pic is my frame I used abit of thinners to remove the paint that has been brushed on to uncover the original colour.

Lights!!!! I have just been given a NOS Everready rear light the one with the curved corners!! But I kinda like the tin Pifco lights!!!

Any views on which will suit the bike best as it is a 1969 bike.

Is there anywhere else you can look?

I will have alook on the inter web, he said I could paint it another colour, which I could but I'd like to keep it original also I like the colour.
Could a car paint supplier match it up............. they have books of colour swatches for most car manafacturers and should mix up as little as half a litre

Probably, Jono at work said there is a place in Scunny that could mix up some paint, but you can bet you bottom dollar the won't use the paint I supply, basically the guy wanted to charge me for 4ltr of paint then keep the rest.
I will make afew calls.

Ok opinions please, I have had an idea! YES AND IT HURT

How about I have the frame painted in the Red TI Raleigh team colours!

As I have just bought a NOS 1980s 12spd Raleigh racer as a parts bike!! if the parts are interchangeable, if not I will get the NOS Raleigh painted in these colours but remove all the little brackets for the cables etc and fit cable clips purely for aesthetics!!!

Nice, but it wouldn't be right. Just wait and get the right paint the way you want (if its possible that is).
