Hi everyone, I just thought I would share this piece of info with y'all,

I was pleased as punch this morning when I did a good time on my commute in to work and got an average speed of 16mph traffic lights etc included.

left my "cat eye wireless cycle computer" on my desk with my mobile phone, made tea, did a couple of little tasks, then went to enter my time etc in to the log and noticed the MPH indicator was flashing!

So I checked back through the data and my average speed and time had changed?!

The only explanation I can think of is that the mobile signal affected it!

I don't now wether this could happen when on the actual bike or not?

It could only be Cat eye computers that are prone to this!

Any one else experianced this?

not with mobile phones but electric fences used to make my old computer display 30 odd Kph when stationary. Another computer read 200Kph whenever I went through a particular set of trsaffic lights. Its electromagnetic interference that's the culprit. Not experienced it with my Blackburn cycle computers but stuck to a wired VDO computer for my commuter just in case.....

I had interference betweeen my headphone wire and and a heart rate monitor strap: like a very slight electric shock.

I've wondered if my mobile has caused interference between my HRM chest strap & computer, especially in more isolated areas, my understanding is that the further a mobile phone is from a base station the more it ups its signal strength to maintain communication, - maybe the source of patchy HRM signals in the back of beyond but not in more populated areas?

Well I was on the way up the hallowed Burrows Ln (always a lovely climb after a nice day in saddle ).

I now have a different fone & postioning of the cable.

But my HRM is crap anyway - so hardly use.

I finish nearly all my rides by riding up Burrows Lane, got nicer since the speed limit dropped too!

I didnt know it had dropped !

I recall losing it with some female driver as she was 1cm behind me trying to pass...

Bit difficult handling that when your doing your best on a nice climb.

God yes, used to be national speed limit until a few years back, so the b@st@rds would brush past at nealry 60 on some bits, now it is 40 it is a bit better, they still get too close on some of the twisty bits though, especially as they try and squeeze through where the solid white lnes are.

If im feeling good i'll big ring it up the turns / 1st section and be in the middle of the ln - god they hate that !

After a big ride its the last test...

Think there was a big head-on smash on there not so long back hence theirs solid lines on the winding bit !??!?!??????

Great if you get the lights at the top! ;) by the Wellington.

I recall finding some blokes phone by pinfold dr. once he even came and wouldnt leave till he give me 10'er for finding it !

A nice road.

That makes sence and ties in with how it could have given off an extra strong signal while on my desk as, I don't get great reception in the office where I am!

So I wont rush out and get a wired computer just yet, I will have to remember to leave the computer away from the mobile!

I was doing 109mph all the time I was stopped at some traffic ligts the other day. I looked down and my wireless computer was directly over the sensor loop in the road. This is on a recumbent trike so it's quite low down. At least it explains the odd trip when I've checked for max speed and seen 124mph. It was always on that route!

Damn, and I thought I really was that fast.
