My garden broom is knackered.. It needs a new head & a new handle, too..

how will you recycle the old one?

I'm trying to match the furniture which was damaged in the flood at my father's house with replacements, as requested by his loss adjuster.

Some are OK-ish to match, others nigh-on impossible given some are antiques / bespoke.

A suggested valuation for the jazz record collection appears to have been acceptable. At least I don't have to match hundreds of rare records with sold prices, if they are actually available.

are the actual vinyl records destroyed or just the cardboard covers? understanding that sometimes it doesn't matter if everything is gross. we had a sewer flood out Dad's basement office & a lot had to be discarded

Just the cardboard covers - so the suggestion is to cover the loss of value rather than destroy the records. That compromise seemed to have helped him cope with the stress of them being deemed to be 'written off'.

It's been a mild and breezy day here chez Casa Reynard, starting off grey, with sunny bits in the middle, and is currently drizzling.

Did not sleep well as brain wouldn't switch off. And then a certain madam kept biting my nose. I had intended on making a fresh cauldron of soup, but that's been deferred to tomorrow on account of the incoming wet stuff, the priority being given to bringing in another trailer load of firewood. So the morning was gentler than usual, just a few basic chores.

Lovely luncheon of pate on toast, fruit and a :cuppa:

Then off into the garden to dismantle the dead cherry tree (a good 14 inches at the base) that Eowyn smashed up. The tree itself is almost down, just a couple of dingle dangling branches to pull free from its neighbour, but I ran out of dry weather and fuel for the saw, so that's a job for later in the week. I have a full trailer of fairly decent quality logs.

However, it is highly recommended NOT to drop an eight inch thick branch on one's foot when cutting it free. Owwwww! Thank goodness I always wear sturdy leather shoes when gardening. My foot is rather bruised and numb / sore, but nothing feels broken. I'll just have to keep an eye on things.

Now sat by the fire with a :cuppa: and a slice of poppy seed cake.
