That was quite a bit of fun at Lea Valley this afternoon.

There were only 4 of us at the session so plenty of space and a bit more time on track. After a couple of laps on the flat bit to get used to the bikes we were given a series of laps moving up the lines each time from the Cote d'Azure strip and on to the banking proper to try the black, red and blue lines at a decent pace. After a quick debrief and instruction on passing etiquete we were then allowed out to play on our own for something like 20+ minutes, another short break to get a drink followed by some close group riding and then team persuit type laps with the leader pulling out and dropping to the back each lap.

As the oldest, it was good to see I wasn't the slowest in the free laps (), but it was harder than I expected to maintain a decent pace for any length of time. The most interesting thing was how stable riding on the steep banking felt and, as for the speed boost coming off the top of the corner banking onto the straights,:ohmy::ohmy:

I can highly recommend giving it a go, but I don't think I'll be following @DCLane in track riding regularly.

Glad you had fun

For the last 3 days they've been working on a wartime bomb dredged up in Yarmouth, and it went off a couple of hours ago whilst they were trying to disarm it. Fortunately they were working by remote control, so nobody's hurt, and they'd built a 400 ton sand bunker to contain the blast, so the damage might be minimal too. There's a gas main that needs checking apparently.

There's gonna be a lot of Crab Pâté around !!

When my Mum goes it's all going to my Dad with the exception of each of my three Aunts having a choice of painting.

We've a fairly famous 19th century Royal Society artist in the family tree and my parents have collected his paintings over the years. My aunts have the odd small one, as I do, but my parents have several very big ones. Value? Not a clue, and it's irrelevant to me, but mine's been valued at £5k and it's about an eighth of the size of their three 'big' ones let alone the rest.

It'll be a bun fight as to who gets which one, although the selection order is already in the will, and I'll have to referee. And hide mine, which is at my parents' in with the others.

They don't get the signed Beatles single from before they were famous :okay:

I was picturing a stately home !

That's much what happened when they did a blind taste test of milk chocolate on "Eat Well For Less" - the Cadbury's won hands down, even though it's actually had the lowest cocoa solids content of all five brands tested.

One of the ones I usually buy for myself (Lindt) finished joint last with the value Asda own brand, as people said it was too bitter. It has 35% cocoa solids iirc, compared to the 20% of the Cadbury's.

20% cocoa solids is the minimum legal amount for something to be actually sold as chocolate.

I think I'd enjoy a "make your own chocolate bar" party thing.

If the Cadbury's chocolate is what the customers prefer then who cares how much chocolate it contains? It's marketed as Cadbury's Milk chocolate.
