you know what, I visited that just after it opened and tend to agree.

Will they be doing coach tours just to see how bad it is ?

I have discovered the existance of hell on earth - The Westgate shopping centre in Stratford.

Mrs Dr B is a Stratford girl and her parents still lived there when the Olympic park and Westfield were being built. It’s fair to say that her mother was much more excited about the prospect of a large shopping mall with a John Lewis than the world’s premier festival of sport. But yeah, hellhole.

Pleasant morning despite the somewhat dismal forecast. When I was out earlier the temp was 9C with no wind.
Calmac have mucked the timetables about again but why do they wait till 0530 to tell me. Not that I ever look at the phone then unless I am travelling as I know who it probably is texting at that time.
If I want a day trip to Oban I cannot get any bookings now until about mid March due to increased demand and reduced boat capacity. There is a system where a hospital appointment can get you a priority booking or even a taxi from the terminal if they cannot get your car on.
The only way for me to get shopping in Oban would be to take the trike which means chancing a bit of non shared pavement.
In the past we walked and I did try that recently to get a haircut but not something I will try again.

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
That was quite a bit of fun at Lea Valley this afternoon.

There were only 4 of us at the session so plenty of space and a bit more time on track. After a couple of laps on the flat bit to get used to the bikes we were given a series of laps moving up the lines each time from the Cote d'Azure strip and on to the banking proper to try the black, red and blue lines at a decent pace. After a quick debrief and instruction on passing etiquete we were then allowed out to play on our own for something like 20+ minutes, another short break to get a drink followed by some close group riding and then team persuit type laps with the leader pulling out and dropping to the back each lap.

As the oldest, it was good to see I wasn't the slowest in the free laps (), but it was harder than I expected to maintain a decent pace for any length of time. The most interesting thing was how stable riding on the steep banking felt and, as for the speed boost coming off the top of the corner banking onto the straights,:ohmy::ohmy:

I can highly recommend giving it a go, but I don't think I'll be following @DCLane in track riding regularly.

Glad you enjoyed it. Whether you go back or not it's a big tick either way. And yes, the adrenaline rush of speed off the banking ...

Well done for having a go.

I was picturing a stately home !
Nope, just a normal house but with paintings on the wall instead of photos.
