My car now has a brand new battery fitted (by me). I didn't think that £57 was too bad. Reduced from £164.99 apparently...

Worth a 10 mile ride to get it but it did weigh me down a tad! 😂

The gales have not quite reached full strength yet which is forecast to be early afternoon. Not raining tho' and temp outside is about 6C.
Dismay in Oban as M&Co are closing [along with many other locations] and comments on their FB pages along the lines of
" Please no more tartan tat shops and we do not need another Turkish barber or pizza place"
There is nowhere left to buy basic clothing except perhaps Tesco for socks and underwear plus other assorted legwear, shirts and jackets etc.

Seems more & more local shops & banks are closing.

It's been a lovely sunny day here chez Casa Reynard, albeit a decidedly chilly one.

Slept well, but woke up all creaky after shifting that wood yesterday. Had a kitchen morning, which as well as some prep for supper, resulted in a large pot of thai-style carrot, sweet potato & red lentil soup. I made it using the curry paste I bought in the little oriental supermarket in town. Whooooo, that stuff packs a wallop, so it's a definite "use sparingly" kind of thing. Heat aside, it's also much nicer than what I bought in Tesco.

Had a lovely luncheon of two slices of wholemeal toast, one was cut in half and had it with the last of the ham on one bit and some salami on the other, then the second slice had a good dollop of Epoisses cheese on it. Stinky, but lovely... Also had a pear, a tangerine and the obligatory two :cuppa:

Spent the afternoon turning some of the wood I hauled in yesterday into logs before splitting it, topped up the wood bins in the house and dragged in a load of small twiggy stuff to turn into kindling as my kindling bin is almost empty.

Just watched the news while having another :cuppa:

M&Co it was plain and simple old story shrinking target customer. Together with pretty bland stock and failure to update to changing market. It went bust just over a year ago before this time.

There's one here in Ely. I did pop in occasionally when pootling about in town, but tbh, there was rarely anything in there that I would have wanted. Did once try to buy a half zip fleece a few years ago, but the shop assistants were far too busy yakking amongst themselves, and after waiting for about fifteen minutes just gave up and left the damn thing on the till.

M&S and Gap do decent jeans, and Decathlon do decent fleeces.
