Shopping completed. The price of Marmite has gone up.

It's getting increasingly difficult to get brown sauce (of any brand) in glass bottles. Sauce in plastic bottles always seems a watered down version.

I picked up a few free newspapers, not to read but to put on the hall floor to oil the bike chain as I was running low on old newspapers.

working from home watching the cat sleep ZZzzzz ...

but there was that one time, when I had cereal, & Reggie woke up to see what he was smelling. then he went to the back door to watch birds. that was all very exciting. alas he is back at the nap. guess I'll have a late morning coffee

I think you should tell us more about when nothing at all was happening.

I've noticed my auto start stop rarely works. It's the original battery so probably needs replacing.
With my car (Mazda) the stop/start only works if the 12v and the iEloop batteries both have enough charge and the air conditioning is up to temperature or switched off. This is why from November to April when the car hardly gets used, the system doesn't operate due to lack of charge/temperature.

I'm in Derby for track racing this evening. Two observations:
  1. It's cold and foggy :cold:. West Yorkshire was neither this afternoon.
  2. The A38/A61 roundabout must be operating slow as there's queues on all roads leading there. I'm miles away but they're lined up moving slowly towards it here.
  3. And 3 (so not 2) - how can I get here from 70 miles away earlier than son no. 2 who's just 10 miles away?
Is it son no.2 who's in Nottingham? If so does he live anywhere where there's free/cheap secure overnight parking and easy access to the trams? I am there at the start of February and will have to drive up if the train strikes go ahead. Overnight parking at the Phoenix Park park & ride (tram terminus) is doable, but "We cannot grant permission for vehicles to be parked overnight at any of our sites" according to thetram.net and it's between £15 and £20 for the city centre car parks where I will be (Chapel Bar/NTU area).

Lovely supper of fish and chips. Had the cod in batter that I bought on YS, and home made triple cooked chips.

Really scratched a culinary itch. :hungry:

I've just spotted an obvious answer to my own question. Although the trains may not be running, the car park by the station will still be open and it looks like it's a tenner overnight and only a mile from where I'll be which will do nicely. Now to work out the best way to drive in...

I have carried on nerding this evening. I've found out that the car whose history I'm trying to put together actually still exists. It was found in a barn three years ago and has been restored, irritatingly for me, back to its original specification.

But it's back out there on the circuits competing in the Old Skool Superstox series, so I'm going to plan a trip to go see it.

The current owner seems to be oblivious to a rather important part of its history...

I had a nice twenty miles this evening on the singlespeed. Now that my flu and the ice are gone I want to get some fitness.

There seems to be a happy time between about 7:30 pm when all the kamikaze commuters have got home and about 10 pm when the wannabe rally drivers come out to play when I can have a peaceful ride.
