It's been a grey and at times very soggy day here chez Casa Reynard. Rain has ceased, but the wind is now getting up. And no, that's got nothing to do with the lentils and sprouts I ate last night...

Slept reasonably well. Treated myself to a little lie in which felt positively sybaritic. Chores have filled up most of the day up till this point. A large load of laundry which also needed hanging up, sorting firewood, re-jigging the fridges somewhat etc.

Luncheon was a bit of a bitsas: wholemeal toast, the last slice of black forest ham, the last of a can of tuna (shared with Madam Lexi of course), the last dollop of torta di gorgonzola cheese, some fruit and a :cuppa:

As I don't need to cook today - it's just a "wang it in the poppity ping" job, the remainder of the evening will be spent writing and working on the painting of the Swift DB4. The latter is almost done. Just as well, as I need it for next Wednesday.

But right now, it's time for a :cuppa:

Cassie has a poorly tootsie, cut on something.

Daddy has a hole in his credit card.

Anyone got any ideas for preventing a dog's paw from getting wet when outside. Vet suggested a poo bag & elastic band but that didn't last long.

All credit to her, she was very very good when the wet washed her foot.

Oh dear Cassie... Mend quickly, sweetpea xxx

+1 for the doggy boots, although a plastic bag would work well if paired with duck tape. Less easy for Madam to remove.

Tried that and it didn't work.

Basically Turnitin voice comments don't work with Google Chrome but do work with Firefox. As a result I'm chatting away through that.

Note to self: remember not to include the rude comments you usually say out loud, but don't type, when leaving student feedback.

Something along the line of lazy brainless numpties, by any chance?

Strange incident today. I was getting off the train in Tübingen, which means going down a subway to get to the main station building. As I approached the steps up I noticed someone had just got into the lift; I've pulled my back (yes, again) so I went to the lift. Having noticed an older lady leaving the lift from my platform, with a bike, a second or two earlier, I slowed so she could get in before doors closed, then folded the back of the Brompton to allow space.

This apparently really annoyed the lady who had got into the lift ahead of me, because when I turned around, she was scowling at me.

I was now in the middle of the lift by the buttons, pressed the button to close the door, then button "0", which by German convention is the platform level.

The lady who had scowled before, repeated this, scolded me in some detail in a language I didn't understand, and pressed the "-1" button, which is the level we were in, scowled at me again, then looked away. After a few seconds, the lift decided that we clearly didn't know what we wanted and raised us up to the platform, whereupon my new frenemy left with a final scowl.

The surrealness was quite entertaining and rather cheered me up for the rest of the commute.

Thanks to a grotty, wet afternoon I now have one bike cleaned of the muck picked up on Friday's Norfolk ride plus another bike cleaned of the muck caused by this morning's grotty, wet conditions. Looking at the forecast for Friday, I think that may be a shed day as well.

The rest of this evening will be spent watching a formallly good English foootball team taking on a formally good Scottish football team in the absence of anything better to do.

It was a strange day, nice one minute, pouring rain the next minute. It's a Rea dry, calm evening now, but the storm awaits.

I tied my bins to the fence and tied the lids down. I also have my shed tent to consider, also tied to the fence and hope it's still there by this time tomorrow! I brought the two bikes I store in it into the flat for safety.

I'm to work from home tomorrow as the office is closed. Funny how working from home is allowed when it suits the company.
