It was touch and go

What made Britain great, that kind of fortitude under pressure.
Just watched Zulu again...

But they were Welsh, suppose the English learned something from it ..

Another day of cold, damp and lack of sun draws to a close. Out of interest I checked the app that monitors my solar panel output & battery storage and it seems that the last day there was a sunny day round here was Sunday 12th January, some limited brightness on the next couple of days and that was it!

The shopping was eventually done this morning and a quick 13 mie loop was also done during the afternoon in an attempt to mitigate the effects of a very greasy sausage roll treat purchased while out shopping. Most of the rest of the day has been spent curled up on the sofa with a book, the radio and a sleeping bag for warmth.

Whilst I was at the cat sanctuary this morning, someone arrived to drop off a cat for rehoming. her 'other half' sat in their car for about twenty five minutes or so - with the engine running.
It was a a diesel engine, so as I've alluded to in a previous post, is there something about diesel engines that requires the driver to leave the engine running that I'm unaware of - ?
Never noticed this with petrol engine vehicles.
The engine was left running as practice for when they do the school pick-up in the afternoon. Doesn't seem to matter whether it's a petrol or diesel round here - just get there early to get the preferred parking spot as close to the school as possible and leave the engine running so the heating/air conditioning (depending on the time of year) does it's thing for when the little precious finally steps out of the school into the highly polluted air.

This happened at our Kindergarten too, and then these drivers would say things like "My word, you've got it good" to my kids when they got into our Bakfiets.

How to speak with an authentic Welsh accent when appearing in a TV programme based in Wales Apparently viewers were not happy with Martin Clunes Welsh accent.

It amazes me how well most of them do pull it off. As if it can’t be difficult enough learning lines and what you are supposed to be doing, but keeping up an accent constantly too. Hats off to them. Martin Compston in Line of Duty seemed to totally lose his Scottish accent. I don’t know how they do it.
