If its really frozen I will start the car as it has heating to both front and rear windows. As such by the time I have scraped the sides and the lights (something too many overlook) those are then quickly cleared.
Never got on with de icer as it seems to refreeze quickly.

It also allows the interior time to warm up so that condensation doesn't form on the glass when you get in.

I put a fan heater inside while I go back indoors for breakfast. Nice warm car and no ice on the glass 😀

As long as I breathe, I attack.
The chilly frosty starts are with us again and yet again folk are defrosting their cars usually by just leaving the engines running; the preferred option it seems now, regardless of pollution, or scraping away with whatever comes handy.
As de icer spray is widely available, why doesn't anyone take this easier option - ?
Legend has it that de icer rots windscreen rubbers, but as a Wilco employee says, if it does, why is de icer still sold - ?
I've been using de icer for many years and never noticed any detrimental effect on the windscreen rubbers on any of my cars.

nowdays you can have an app that starts the car and defrosts it for you before you leave the house so to many thats the easy option .

That stuff's the work of the devil, it leaves a greasy film that makes the wipers smear next time it rains.

Aircon. No condensation, no damp clammy feel to everything, and wet clothes dry off in no time.

It's been a grey and defrosting kind of day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept reasonably well and had a bit of a lie in again. It was -6C and freezing fog out when I went to bed last night. When I woke up, it was hovering around freezing and everything covered in a finger thick layer of hoar frost. But in the space of an hour while luncheon was had, the outside temp lifted suddenly to a balmy 4C, and it had largely all defrosted. The drive and path is still frozen, and my planters have two inches of solid ice on them.

Glad the cold snap is over, as I was really struggling to keep the house warm last night. The only things I've done today is restock firewood in the house and make a pot of turkey & vegetable soup.

Watched the footy this afternoon. Less said about that, the better. We threw that one away, but really, Man U should have been down to nine men after that kerfuffle. Hey ho, hope we can turn things around against the Spuds on Wednesday.
