It was -5 when I went to drive one of the school minibuses on Friday morning.
My old diesel Touran had an auxiliary heater that got the engine coolant up to operating temperature quickly, but this diesel transit didn't seem to have anything like that. Did all my vehicle checks and the temperature gauge still hadn't moved. Got a bit of warmth coming through by the first pickup.

I was dressed like Scott of the Antarctic.

I have been out and put our bins out. It is dark cold and frosty. The lids on the bins didn't want to open up. I'm back on the bed with a hot drink now.

Morning. Time to get on my crutches and get a shower. Fortunately the hotel shower has level floor access. I'd be knackered at home as I can't do stairs nor can I get in a bath. Silver lining.

Saw a trip adviser review where an older person complained about a shower. "Us older people 70 to 80 prefer a bath" it said. Hmm for safety, a walk in level shower is better I thought.

Hotel and TUI were great putting in last minute assistance as I was only able to phone them about 15 hours before flying. Restaurant staff reserved a table for us for the whole week so breakfast and lunch is in an accessible location.

The only difficulties I had were crossing over from the airplane lift to airplane as it was wet with all the icy shoes and slippy for crutches, and the six steps in and out the coach (that was excruciating).
