A grey and chilly day here chez Casa Reynard. Only reads 2C outside, but doesn't feel as cold as either yesterday or Thursday.

Slept well, and had a nice lie in, in the company of Madam Lexi. Who had, at some point crawled in under the covers, and was sleeping next to me with her head on the pillow. It was actually her whiskers tickling my nose what woke me up!

Other than some basic chores, I have done the grand sum of diddly squat today. And god knows I've needed that. Although I'm kind of sad that I'm not stewarding at the Capital show in Ware today. It would have been nice to have some cat cuddles and catch up with people I don't see that often, but I am thoroughly enjoying sitting by the fire listening to the football on the radio and pootling about online.

Went out on the bike earlier and ventured across the flood plains of north Surrey - no proper floods but surface runoff had frozen into thick sheets of thick ice over the paths; a bit heebie-jeebie when cycling on slick tyres.

Came back home to defrost, then spent the rest of the day de-xmasing the house, including dragging the tree out the back and then hoovering up the trail of pine needles through the house.

Tomorrow, tree meets loppers, then has a date with the garden waste bin.

The birds have finally started on the cheap Aldi suet balls - they scoffed them down last autumn but took offence at being offered then now.

Freezer cleared of Christmas suffing balls and pigs in blankets, defosted cooked and served with peas, carrots, mash and an onion sauce.

Discovered the remote to the kitchen TV partly works the Google Chrome that is attached to it without changing anything from its TV mode. Worked iPlayer but would not activate YouTube; although once opened it did then work within it
