My dad bought his first new Claud Butler on a pay weekly basis.

It got pinched and was later recovered by the police when they raided a garage and found loads of bikes all painted black and because dad knew his frame number he could claim it.

This was after various telling offs by his mum for being silly paying as much as he did for his bike.

That he bought from Bob Stokes in Coventry if I remember how the story goes

I wondered if that was the case for most bikes back in the 50's and 60's. Just like a lot of modern cars are leased today.

I paid cash for my Holdsworth Record.

Twas a late rising this morning, and foggy too. I thought I'd see fewer people walking the dog, so we did the weekend route in the expectation that the bypass would be quieter & easier to cross if I fancied a longer walk. Then I met a couple of dog walkers I knew & we spent a while chatting, passed by a couple more dog walkers. It was amazing how many folk were out.

Happy Birthday @dicko...

Clear with a red to orange sky and a sun lit moon greeted the start of a journey to Nottingham to see Dad. Did not last as once beyond Ferrybridge the fog decensed and as a result South Yorkshire and Derbyshire largely passed unseen.
On the return the fog had expanded south to at least Jn 26 of the M1 and north beyond the Selby jn on the A1(M).
Generally sensible driving all round let down of couse by an Audi clown who flashed to me to get out of his/her terribly important and urgent need to vastly exceed the speed limit, as I was overtaking three lanes of slower moving traffic.

I've just made myself a roast dinner with a bottle of bubbly. That means I'm now only a day behind the rest of you. I also managed to melt the foot of the air fryer on a hob ring. I'll do a damage inspection when things have cooled down a bit.

Meanwhile, the council has just emailed us all bin info. Apparently they won't be collecting the bins yesterday (I think we already knew that) or today. And then they won't be bish-bash-binning on New Year's Day either. This is only a matter of vague general interest because none of us here have bins.
