Well that's a bit of a bummer. San Carlo restaurant in Manchester has just cancelled on a works meal this afternoon. Cancelled us 4 hours before we were due to turn up. It's been booked weeks - they have apparently over booked numbers. Fortunately, more luck than anything, we've managed to get booked in elsewhere - given how busy Manchester is presently, this is no small task.

Barnet,
The bird feeders have been refilled, seed,, nut, fatballs and mealworms. They are eating a lot at the moment.
I guess the local squirrels are getting a share as well.
We also had a fox in the garden yesterday eating up the seed that had fallen and mealworms. It looked in good condition though.

Just had email re mandatory training for work they've added 2 extra dates. Tomorrow and Friday how's that for great planning ?
The training has now gone from lasting about 30 mins to lasting 15 mins. Told everyone need to do it by Christmas , so clearly someone is a panic and is just rushing though it all to tick boxers. At 30 mins it just about covered the bus fare , 15 mins means i'm out of pocket.
So that together with short notice means they can do one.

Eventually discovered having messaged the IT chief that the locked access to W11 resets "after half a hour". Would have been useful if someone had said that. Meanwhile in W10 the antique program was frozen for three hours. Spent a chunk of that trying to get the mobile app version of the leave/expense claims program to work. Rather than installing an mobile app it transpired it was a link to the desktop version meaning to access it everytime on the phone it wants employee number, password, DoB and a pin number ! . The mobile app version should have a single login.

A mild and blustery day here chez Casa Reynard, and one that started off sunny but got progressively greyer.

Did not sleep well. Met up with a friend this morning for our weekly dog walk. Had a good chinwag as usual, and was fun spending time with the doggos. Tris and Izzy are such little sweetie pies. Stopped off at the book exchange and picked up a volume on photography. I think I may have it, but if I do, or if it doesn't float my boat, it's going back on the shelf

Topped up the wood bins on my return. Put the beef joint, prawns and smoked haddock I picked up in Tesco the other day into the freezer. Loaded the crock pot with a pasta sauce, using the last tub of home-grown tomatoes that were in the freezer, wrapped some gifts for the parental and baked a batch of marzipan-stuffed lebkuchen.

Plan on a quiet evening listening to Arsenal v Palace in the EFL Cup and watching the puissance from the horse show thingy.

kind of excited, gonna run out this evening, w/ a mask after business hours, to check a cpl things in my office. no one will be there & I'll be in & out in 10 minutes. yes, I will wipe all doorknobs & light switches

some things to check
  • incoming mail
  • some printouts I made, which may have landed on my office floor
  • voice messages on my office phone. no, no one knows how to retrieve them remotely. so dumb
  • most important, change some passwords, which can only be changed in the office, due to some idiotic technicality. I'll be out of the office for 2 weeks & if I don't do it now, I'll be locked out until the 2nd week of January!
