Dreadful day in many respects.
Never got really daylight and lights needed all the time. Light rain and high winds so ferries are now all cancelled as are the early ones tomorrow.
Gastric reflux playing up so I must go and see a quack tomorrow to see if they can help. The system here is that if you phone the surgery not later than 0801 in the morning you can get a same day appointment. Need to remember to set my alarm.
Outside only to put my recycling bin down to the street. About 20 yards was a struggle and getting back to the house was worse. Tried to read a book but fell asleep most of the afternoon.

I have been messing about with my parents' washing machine. It had the symptoms of knackered brushes but they seem to have decent length left. I cleaned them and put it all back together again. It seems to be working now.

Stuck in the housing, just short of the end?

one of the springs may have just snagged, taking it to bits and putting it back together will of done the trick

My thought, put a different way. Springs are designed to keep contact without increasing wear.

It's been a sunny and chilly day here chez Casa Reynard, with a rather brisk WNW breeze.

Slept well. Did a bunch of chores including emptying the ash from the grate and topping up the wood bins. I like to keep a good couple of days' worth of firewood in the house.

Main task today was fitting the new bar to the chainsaw. I can't find the manual (probably somewhere in the garage), so had to work it out. Heck, it's only three parts to put together (not counting the chain). But if you put one item in upside down, it all fits, except you then can't get the chain guard back on... Got there eventually. Yet to test the saw, but will do that tomorrow, as I the "big log" bin in the garage is almost empty.

The parental has been celebrating her Cake Day today. Upon request, I cooked a very nice meal consisting of braised venison burgers in onion gravy, triple-cooked chips fried in beef dripping and caulisprout cheese with stilton and a crispy garlic breadcrumb topping.

Plan on spending the evening writing and possibly furkling around on the Bay of E.

I'm betting the manual is online. Bit late to say tho'.

That was interesting! On the news last night the buildy peeps said that they don't have enough skilled people to build all these planned new houses. Well who would have thought that?
They will just have to get those 5 peeps that I saw working on the M1 roadworks to help them.

You saw someone working on the M1 roadworks?

Pleasant few miles with the dog in lovely mild & sunny weather..
Certainly beats the earlier threat of going to a Retail Park!

It was remarkably warm first thing this morning.

A relaxing day was had. It was really dull all day but didn't actually rain. It was pretty windy though.

I did venture out for about 25 miles on the the single speed. Some gears might have been appropriate into the wind but I made it. A good test of the legs.

Out now for my Sunday evening live music fix. The price of a pint of Guinness has gone up by 10 Cent
