Week four of my training completed. At this I'll be an expert in coming up with excuses for being late to work!

I tidied up my flat after work before having the last of my homemade vegetable soup.

I was due to be meeting a few friends this evening but it's been cancelled as some people are sick.

Looks like a relaxing evening to catch up with some reading.

There’s comes a point with technology where we will all become luddites. I think I’ve found a technology line I don’t wish to cross 😂

Early evening walk often takes me past the old Victorian posh end of my area. At this time of year the grand bay windows of the victorian Vilas are filled with big tall Christmas trees all lit up. A view which has not changed for over 100 years. Makes you wonder how many trees these old bays have seen come and go over the years.
Now sat with :cuppa: next our tree all lit up and the glow from the lights and candles around the fire place.

I've had a brainwave over an N-1-ish decision. Which means the Principia 700 I recently bought and have done up for temporary use won't be needed after all

Anyone want a 54cm Principia?

Or a 2014 Merida Scultura 903 aluminium frameset in a few weeks' time? It's now got a matching original Merida green wheelset :okay:

what sizing was the merida ?

Just driven to deliver a cheap bike i got as part of a package deal , i did charge £10 for delivery which i thought was fair as the buyer was about 20 miles away but doesnt have their own transport .Overall i have covered the costs and got the bits on the other bike i actually want effectively free .
The amount of complete twonks on the road was the worst i have ever experienced , not sure if its the dark or catching some of the rush hour but the number of drivers that pulled out , cut me up and in one case forced me to do an emergency stop as they sailed across the mini roundabout directly into my path beggars belief .

It's a 54cm frameset @cyberknight - the build photo below shows it set for me and my 5' 7" son used it with the seatpost slightly lower:

The likelihood is that it'll be a frameset, possibly with stem, bars, bottle cage and maybe an aluminium seatpost. The only downside is one of the bottle cage bolts has snapped and there's a bit of mudguard rub from the previous owner. I'm therefore open to cheeky offers :okay: To date with me it's done about 1,000 miles on the smart turbo and exactly 0 miles on the road.

And I've also got the original green Merida wheelset now - https://99spokes.com/en-GB/bikes/merida/2014/scultura-903

The other components will be going onto a Ridley Fenix frameset I picked up in October whilst the Viner Mitus will go onto the smart turbo to give me a decent spare summer bike option.

I'd originally picked up the Merida as my smart turbo's in the conservatory and is an obvious theft risk. According to my slightly unscrupulous now ex-neighbour the local lowlifes aren't sure what it's bolted to (the turbo trainer) and don't think they can run fast enough carrying the two, hence I've decided it's OK to stick the Viner onto it.

I've switched on the radio and Paul McCartney is informing me that he's having a wonderful Christmas time. I'm delighted for him, but does he have to brag about it?
Maybe he just likes making a song and dance about it.

It's been a mild, but grey, murky and soggy day here chez Casa Reynard. Precipitation level was somewhere between "Fog" and "Rain"

Slept well and overslept. Chores in the morning, including cleaning up a pile of cat sick on the stairs. This afternoon was spent chopping firewood. At teatime, I popped to the post office in Littleport (less likely for the queue to be out of the door compared to the one in Ely) to get all the postables away, and on the way home, picked up the parental's prescription from the quack.

A bitsas supper of tomato soup, followed by the last dollop of sausage casserole and the leftover pasta from last night. There is still a lemon & raisin Danish with my name on it for later.

Rest of the evening has been spent writing / unpicking some writing. It's all about achieving that balance between getting the motorsport environment the story is set in factually correct, and making it accessible for the average reader who might not necessarily care about the intricate details. Ergo a whole load of technical / nerdy stuff has been deleted, and I've managed to make things work far better.
