Is it just me and @biggs682 who watch "Strictly"? I would like Chris MacCausland get into the final.

I think he gets over votes along with JB

It was the same with the Major Oak in Sherwood Forest. You used to be able to climb into it and now there's a large fence around the tree.

Or Carrick-A-Rede rope bridge; I remember it being 50p into the honesty box not the £14 it is currently.

I had breakfast in the middle of Stonehenge at dawn, once, many moons ago.. All fenced off now.
Also walked up Masada in the Judean Desert a couple of times before it became a UNESCO World Heritage Site and got expensive & touristy!

Worth researching if you're not familiar with the history..

It's been a grotty, squelchy and windy day here chez Casa Reynard.

Slept reasonably well. Haven't done over much beyond topping up the wood bins and chasing some herb planters around the garden. I fear some of my parsley has left for pastures new, but I managed to stop my sage bush from escaping.

Have listened to the F1 and the footy. Now just chilling out. Will write some more Christmas cards later.

Majar oak is fenced off as we now know much more about tree management then we use to. It's all down to root compaction one good thing to have to come out of the great storm of Michael Fish fame. Together with the head gardener of Kew decision to leave a favourite ancient oak as the last tree to be cleared. What they found was not only was it growing but it was going better than ever. They worked out that when it was ripped out the ground and fell back into the hole. Its roots had a shake and the loosing of soil meaning the roots could breathe resulting in better access water and nutrients. That tree lead to a whole change around the world as to how to manage tree. Inc the design of new equipment to aerate roots. The so name air hoe.

Turned out a nice sunny but cold day so drove up to visit my wildlife pal and got introduced to his tame hoodie crows. They roost around his house and anytime somebody appears come down looking for food.
His grandson is very amused as in his working life he shot them on sight as unwanted predators but since he has no sheep or hens now they are no threat to his livestock.
On his private road I was forced to a stop by my neighbour’s daft labrador who recognised my car and demanded entry while running under my front wheels and then jumping at my passenger door. The owners were out for a walk and with no traffic expected allowed him to run loose round a blind corner.
Even driving the low sun was a problem so not a day for triking as too dangerous.
