I awoke the beast from its winter slumbers this afternoon, the geared bike has been in the shed all winter, I've been riding fixed since the end of October, this afternoon I got the geared bike out pumped up the tyres and checked them for debris, cleaned and lubed the chain then checked all was OK and then washed it down ready for Sunday.

I had crumpets today. It was cold and grey and I needed a dose that melty butteriness. But they seem to have started adding loads of sugar to them. They were all sweet so I had to add some ripe cheddar to push the sugariness into the background.

If I recall correctly it was taken during a Beaujolais Nouveau party during the era of celebrating its arrival involved which drinking copious amounts of it as quickly as possible to avoid tasting the stuff. He was the host and might well have had several bottles of it before getting dressed which would explain his dishabille.

I was one of the very few from the party to make it to work the next day. One party goer ragained consciousness at 14:30 and had slept through his alarm clock and several phone call from a concerned employer. He blamed powerful painkillers for a dental abscess for his somnolence and inability to respond to the phone calls.
