Just rebuilt the bottom 3 steps of the staircase, after my wife wanted them taken out due to a "smell" that is most likely from a dead mouse - the "benefits" of having 3 cats that are too well fed so they bring them in alive and leave them.
Also bought 6 new mouse traps as my wife has finally agreed after many years that the humane ones that she has insisted on us using don't work anymore. Once the mouse is released it seems to me that they find their way back in.
She also wouldn't let me shoot the rat that has been living in our garden. She doesn't know I managed to run it over the other day with my bike, she thinks I caught it and then let it go away from the house

Double glazed doors are fine, but not if there's a whacking great gap most of the way round the frame (15 years old and abused a bit)
So, mastic gun in hand, trimmings removed, cleaned and resealed.
I'd like to say its now toasty...but its not, its just not as draughty any more, lets not get carried away.

Been awake since ridiculous hours in pain. Not a good night. Need a telephone appointment with my GP today, but got to wait at lest another 75 minutes before the surgery opens!

Oh dear, being in pain isn't mundane!

How are you liking being back in your own home? Is the kitchen finished? When are you having pancakes?

We are back in our own home now but I am still walking dusty at least once a day because I go out for my physio walks twice a day as it is.
The kitchen isn't finished but is operational. Apparently the cupboard etc are not the colour she ordered which explains why the trim that was meant to go on them was completing the wrong color, I vetoed it going on because it was just completely ridiculous! Seems the trim was the colour she ordered, the rest wasn't. I'm expecting she will give them all hell over the next few days about it..

There's a wall socket that used to be live which is now over the cooker, it was deemed dangerous so the cover taken off and the wires cut, only they didn't then put a blanking plate on it.. There are holes in the ceiling, the walls and the floor, new l flooring is needed, the kitchen bin for inside the kitchen sink cupboard had not arrived, there no handle for the grill pan on the new oven, not to mention it's the wrong size oven (10cm less wide then she ordered) which means I'm struggling to find a baking sheet that will fit it... and so on... oh and there are no covers over the strip lighting that had gone in so it is plain strip lights... You get the idea! Typical workmen left unsupervised in afraid. I've ended up paying someone to come in and clean the house for me because despite repeated requests that they hang one from the word go because I'm a severe asthmatic... Ahhhhh, oh well.:surrender:

Good luck to your landlady! Hope it's sorted soon.
