I've made Mrs R lie down and take it easy.......but I'm not sure how long that will last
just spent the morning depressing myself and buying mobility thingies... couple of thingies to attach the crutches to, to stop them falling over (similar to the ones they had in hospital) when a corner is not available... a grabber thingy helping hand thing... and a long handled dustpan and brush. getting fed up of not being able to pick things up off the floor. But haven't quite resorted to the sock puller, leg puller and long shoe horn thingy.... but the latter could be coming soon... god its making me feel old and decrepit...

Mrs R has just taken delivery of this. It's better than a soft/hard collar which seems to choke her.

It looks like you could attach a mouth organ to it as well.

I have found one of these to be wonderful - but I couldn't use it for 3 weeks after my op (consultant didn't want me to)....
worth every penny http://www.johnlewis.com/dreamland-16052-thermo-therapy-heat-pad/p231782189
It has eased away a lot of pain without the need for strong painkillers! It has 5 temperature settings and although they don't say so, the temperature increases and decreases overtime which relaxes the muscles. I use it a lot at night to help with the lower back pain I get.

they do a dedicated one for neck and upper shoulders should she find heat pads are useful http://www.johnlewis.com/dreamland-16055-thermo-therapy-neck-and-back-heated-wrap/p661117

Thanks for that - I'll let her know. She seems to get the most pain at the end of the day and something like that should help. She has an appointment at the Royal Free Hospital this afternoon for a bone density scan. I think she'll need to start taking bisphosphonates to ward off the encroaching osteoporosis. She says it's very frustrating having been active all her life to be in clinics with people 25 years older than her.
you are welcome and ask her how I feel at 42 and I have been very active all my life as well (possible too active?)?
I baled on the 'we want to you on this for osteoporosis" because it is only in 1 bone and the rest of my bones have a much higher bone density than average. they wanted to put me onto something that would exacerbate my asthma and acid reflux and isn't tested on pre-menopausal women. I read up on it and decided to deal with it another way! I eat/drink and take a supplement that has me on a much higher level of calcium and several other minerals that are needed instead. my next bone density scan is due in May which will tell me if it has been working - big finger's crossed because I do not want to take that medication (though my asthma consultant has told me that there is another form of it that can be given once a year by IV drip instead of once a week by tablet which won't cause my asthma issues - shame endocrine don't want me to know this!)

Two pie shops. Two boycotts. Their wares were unappealing. Most Scottish pies fail to pass muster. I couldn't face confirming my prejudice.
