I'm pleased, apart from anything it's worth trying out the hospital system to find out how it works there. I'm so ignorant about Australia's health system, do you have to pay for anything/everything?

You are likely to be left with a white patch on that knee when it heals I suspect. I have a smaller patch on my knee that I took a chunk out of and now it's the first thing that gets sunburn!

Pleased? Humph. That's not the word I was thinking of. It's bad enough having had to suss the system out regarding the blue badge (different states have different rules etc). Then working out the doctors side. Some of my meds I need to see the Dr every month for so a $125 fee I can't reclaim each time. Plus the cost of the meds which being routine meds I also can't reclaim... But we knew most of this before we came out here and agreed that it would be worth it. It is, but some days are more difficult that others.

You pay and then get a rebate for about 50% of fees, hospital costs included. All prescription items you pay full for. our private healthcare covers most things except Dr visits, repeat prescriptions and private prescriptions (difference being when I need a specific brand of drug or is not covered under the prescription rebate scheme). In theory we should be able to recover the costs of the xrays that wasn't covered by the NHS (we, or at least my OH is and I will if I get a job here) still pay NI contributions in the UK because we are not expats, we are overseas workers).

I didn't need to test it out, honest. Our friend here tested it recently. She fell down some stairs whilst holding her 9 months old son. She protected him from all injury at her own cost and that cost had been high. She broke her shoulder in 4 places and since then it turns out that she also did her radius in at the elbow joint so she is no longer able to straighten get arm. She did it in March and isn't expected to return to work until the new year at the earliest.

Hurrah

I'm glad you have gone to get checked over. Hope they can give you something to help with the pain and that your lung xrays come back with minimal if not no damage.

Ditto!
Best wishes to you.

Today's motorcycle trip will be minus us ladies. We're bailing out and catching a train to Chester for some retail therapy.
We didn't catch a train to Chester. There weren't any trains. Not that there was anything at the station telling customers that. Online info also didn't mention the lack of trains due to engineering works. In fact it lied - it said the train you want has just left on time. It must have been an invisible train. Grrrr.
Caught a bus to Stafford in the end. Not quite the same but it did lead to the discovery of the Wychwood craft lager, which was a result.

Currently at the hospital getting an x-ray of both lungs. Dr pretty certain I have broken ribs. Will get results later when she Dr rings me. The good news is that they are happy with the healing of my knee.
I am sorry to hear that you had a fall and didn't bounce well, you have my sympathy. I have broken some bones and a rib in the past but not all at once so I can't imagine the pain that you are in. I did find that with a broken rib that laughing was the most painful but as you have other injuries laughing would seem a remote possibility. I hope that the pain soon eases and that you make a full recovery.
When I was young my Dad bought a few chickens, 35 , he didn't know he was bidding on four cages. All seemed quite peaceful for a while until we found a dead hen near the fence. We had noticed that a few hens were missing a few feathers but didn't know at the time what being Hen Pecked meant.
Hopefully now that you have a rooster in charge he may be able to keep the hens in order.

Monday here
Too much alcohol ?

Did you miss yesterday then or are you now on planet @potsy

Morning, we had a pretty sky a little while ago, it has now become more cloudy. Schrödinger has now sat himself across my arms and is making typing difficult. He came in this morning and gave me a morning cuddle having been released from his room.
I think my wife has given me a bug which was making her blood pressure fluctuate wildly, as I was having chest niggles and found that my BP was up, so a puff of gtn and a lot of naps yesterday. A gradual start for today.

We just had a laugh. I was doing the washing up when Schrödinger the kitten jumped up onto the work surface to see what I was doing. As my gloved hands were in the washing up I lifted him off gripping him with my arms and put him on the floor. What amused us was seeing him looking at a stalactite of bubbles hanging from his belly, they followed him everywhere he went.

Henry loves sitting next to me when I wash up. He adds his paw to the bubbles to help out.
I have bought one of those kids bubble blowing toys and he is just about getting to grips with chasing the bubbles.

We need an updated photo of Schrödinger I think:whistle:
