No, it was getting a bit big so it could have been taken back a bit but not totally removed. If we had been informed we might have helped to pay to have it reduced a bit. Now we feel spied upon when we walk into the kitchen. Just talking about it now has made my wife tearful again.
FFS, does your council have ash cutback disease? They need to be planting them, not cutting them down!

That's why we've got a big Ash tree up the garden, it's not to pi55 the (obnoxious) neighbour off at all.

EDIT- they may be under the impression the tree has a TPO on it too, but if they will earwig on our private conversations in the garden I could well see why they might.

So are the Kangaroos only really a problem in the night? Because you only see them at the last minute or because they are moving around more/moving faster at night?
just like animals in general in the UK, it is dawn and dusk.... when twilight coincides with rush hour.... only here it is something capable of killing you and/or writing off your vehicle because they are solid muscle (wombats are just as bad) and to make matters worse, there is a reason all those films show Aussie vehicles hunting 'roos with very large front lights. Kangaroos eyes don't reflect lights so think of something grey or reddish brown (depending of which roo it is), exceptionally large (6 foot) and almost invisible with absolutely no idea what a vehicle is let alone what a road is and for some mad reason when/if they decide they are going to get out the way, run diagonally across the road TOWARDS you. I kid not. They run at you instead of away from you thus shortening the distance. The unwritten rule is not to hit your brakes, not to swerve but to stay at a constant speed and course. Aussie drivers tailgate unlike anything I have encountered even on the M25 in rush hour! The reason is that they are using you as a shield!

I was going to do try it anyway as I need to lose weight before my next hospital appointment, so I'll join the abstainers in publicly declaring my intention to give up that which I love. In this case, chocolate. Meep.
I'll give it til the 5th

Well i wont need to water the garden today as i had planned.

Total deluge last night. However it is still warm enough for the doors to be open and there is blue sky and sunshine.

But, it is still raining. Anyway i am sober, hallelujah!

You are moderating this forum sober?

I thought about joining you on the no chocolate front too.... However it was a short lived abstinence.... I was tidying and came across an open box of those Aldi chocolate crisps.... and whilst putting them away I accidently stored one in an alternative location:whistle: then realised my sin, so decided I may as well sin thoroughly and had a second!

Two crisps isn't sinning: you're meant to eat the whole pack. (And that, boys and girls, is why Jo needs to lose weight...)

We will have one as well Jo. Do you have a short list of charities you're interested in?
I want to support a medical charity that helps people in need, but I don't know much about the sector.

But it is if you were going to try to give up chocolate... I was just showing how easily it is for chocolate to sneak into your mouth! And I can't eat the packet ... Youngest Summerling wouldn't forgive me... Well unless I bought another packet!

It had nothing to do with the council, it was a neighbour that decided that his garden was becoming too dark and that some of the branches were overhanging too much and which might fall down.. I agree with you that we should be saving trees, my wife and I were looking at the tree to see if it was showing any signs of the disease. The hedgerow contains elder and a few elm saplings which will soon succumb to Dutch elm disease, but it does provide a wildlife habitat and it is nice to sit by the pond listening to the birds and watching the Dragonflies.

Such a shame. Would have been nice if your neighbours had consulted you. I know perhaps they didn't need to but it's good to talk and a compromise may have been reached.
