The blue and great tits who visit my garden are more interested in the seed then the suet blocks I put out, whereas the long-tailed tits, who swarm all over the suet, haven't turned up for a few weeks. They usually go quiet once the chicks have left the nest but turn up again in late autumn or winter.
I just heard some chirping and looked out of the window: the long tailed tits are back. The sparrows aren't happy as they've been chased away from the suet!

Did they mention what you should do if one of the residents wishes to help you with a task? Do you have to diplomatically turn down their offer, or is an extra pair of hands sometimes useful?

If anyone's wanting something to smile about, read this. A friend's four year old daughter was born with severe cerebral palsy. My friend just posted this on FB:
Huge news here. One of the reasons I really wanted W to go to school today was that they had an eye gaze assessor and educator coming in to work with her, the first of 5 sessions, she only went and bloody nailed it! She was asked what her favourite food was from 6 choices, she said "ice cream, ice cream, ice cream", she loves to taste ice cream, it makes her grin from ear to ear, her teacher said that she liked a cheeseburger, could Willow look at the cheeseburger for her, she looked straight at the cheeseburger! Then she had to select her favourite activity from 6 choices, straight away she choose swimming! Which, again, we know she loves. A Maze Ing. Tomorrow she will start using it in class to communicate!!! Tonight, Daddy is bringing ice cream home for pudding.

I looked at the website for the Dovecotes, in Allesley Park, Coventry and it says that the residents can take part in working in the garden. They are retirement apartments, so probably different to a Care Home. My 95 year old mother is struggling in her own home. So I have been looking at a few options.
