I was cooking my tea tonight and looked out my kitchen door to see this fella on my Budlea fuelling up.

I was trickling along at walking pace waiting for the oncoming transit to clear the parked lorry and got my foot entangled in the front wheel, unfortunately I'm 65 in December and don't bounce like I used to. Details are in my Your Ride Today post.

Ouch! GWS

I think I'm the only person in the world who doesn't like Jaffa cakes. Orange and chocolate together are vile. xx(
Can't stand them either!

Tonight is going to be another duvetless night.
Winter weight and autumn weight on with a woollen blanket on my legs and a woolly hat on. Has been like that more or less since we moved in and we are forecasted to have -5C over the weekend (last time I checked) and given that aussie houses don't really do insulation, you can expect our room to fall close to freezing. Oh and the electric blanket was also on low all night!

It doesn't get that cold or necessary to layer up like that in the UK, well not on the beach anyway

Possibly not in summer, but I have known it in winter.

here, the main problem is that the room house has no heating and the fact that a tent would actually be warmer because it actually warms up whilst you are in it being smaller. and yes, we have had more on in the UK when we have camped out in -20C (we have special sleeping bags for these temperatures). Even when we lived in the south of England, where we were we routinely had -10C and (sleeping with the windows open permanently) we would often have 2 winter weight quilts on the bed and when it dropped below -10C we would bring the guinea pigs inside!

Right now, because this is Australia and it loves its extreme temperatures, it is much warmer in the sun room than I can tolerate and rather like a conservatory, I have had to open the windows and doors because in the laundry (which is also 2 sides of glass, the main one like the sun room facing north) the metal sink that runs the entire length of the laundry, is too hot to actually touch!
On the bright side because the laundry is also the shower room, it is wonderful to have a shower in the mid morning, early afternoon and step out into the sunshine and warmth of the laundry.

Spring is on its way. There are signs like some of the trees starting to flower and the grass is starting to grow. Some of the birds have started to nest (we have swallows in the chook house) and I'm seeing growth on the honeysuckle. I guess it won't be long before I will be very glad of the fact that the bedrooms are the coldest rooms in the house!
