It's still raining. It actually hasn't stopped since my last post. And it's not the light stuff. It's the very wet, heavy stuff that floods.

We walked from Whaley Bridge to Furness Vale along the canal towpath.

This necessitates crossing the canal via a footbridge at one point to continue the journey.

To avoid the stress or unnecessary anxiety amongst you caused by not knowing, I can inform you that the bridge is number 37 on the system.

I sometimes ride to bridge 43.

Compared to Denmark the German cycle paths are crap.

You've not ridden mine. Or maybe you have.

It strange how things change. I have been with both services and used them over the years and found that the AA were a better service.
My only previous experience of the AA involved a 4 hour wait for them to reach me outside work. The driver had come from Manchester! Surely there was a patrol nearer than that? The RAC reached me in 45 mins near Worcester a few years back.

Currently very unimpressed with the Automobile Association!

My parents are on their way back from Devon and broke down at about 1 this afternoon. The two patrols that have attended so far have done their best but failed to effect a repair and it sounds like the call centre couldn't find their arse with both hands.:headshake: Current ETA of a recovery vehicle is 8.40pm - nearly 8 hours after the initial breakdown.:banghead:
Update: They have been picked up at the time stated and are on their way. ETA at home 10.30 to 11pm which I think is rather on the optimistic side from where they were but we'll see.
The recovery driver did really well getting them back last night and they arrived at 10.45. A good run on clear roads and the incentive of dropping them off before his hours ran out certainly helped.;)

The guy was most unimpressed with how this had been handled and says he is going to file an internal report in addition to any complaints we might make. Due to it being an engine management failure he thinks the car should have been recovered from the initial breakdown rather than trying a roadside reset and hope it would make it home.:okay:
