In the rain ?
No, a super day. Lots of walking up and down hills .
Much complaining of the knees!

Thanks everyone re: Dusty

It's another blue skies and :sun: day here in Canberra. We are expecting a lot of rain tomorrow then clear again for the foreseeable future with ground frosts and sub zero temperatures at night. :wahhey:

I finally got asked yesterday if I was cold in a very short sleeved t-shirt (and jeans) in temperatures that had me sweating and wondering if I should be wearing sunblock! The lady concerned had 3 layers on, a thick coat and a woolly scarf. No hat mind you, so not the worst we have seen!

Not looking too good for my MIL. She will be transferred to a local care home shortly, but has been diagnosed with acute kidney injury, which is basically sudden onset kidney problems. Given her heart failure, this looks like another big problem. My wife went earlier and was given a sheet to either let her mum read, or she to read it. MIL was sobbing she was dying (we've had this for years). This might be the case now. It's going to to be tough.

Best wishes Fossy. We are all thinking of you.
It's never easy when it's like this and you are as you are as well. I have to remind myself quite often not to snap at my loved ones when I'm in pain and trying to deal with family issues.

Sorry to hear that. Thinking of you.

Cheers, and sorry to hear about Dusty.

My FIL passed away quite quietly but it was cancer of the lungs 18 months ago, but MIL is a bit of an old battle axe. It's unfortunately lots of complications of old age that we've been looking after for over 10 years. She was never a healthy pensioner.

Many of us have been here, and sometimes it's quick and unexpected, sometimes years.

When we arrived in Cairns the owner of the B&B we were staying in picked us up from the airport. She apologised for the bad weather as she pulled on her cardigan. It was 26C and slightly hazy

Slightly more positive news, the third party will pay for my pilates one to ones and my gym membership for now (we aren't talking much).

The down side is, that when my missus was talking to her mum in hospital, her mum said, "Ant won't ever be the same again", which is probably right, just got to deal with the busted back and adapt. Ah well, MTB's and rocks and trees will be the answer.:cycle:

Yeh. I've given up on the idea of ever climbing mountains again. If I can walk up them I'll be more than happy even if I need the crutches for balance (can be substituted for trekking poles). Don't know if I'll ever trail ride again, but hopefully some off road would be nice!

Road vibrations are a deffo no way. I can get away with 20 PSI in my 2.4" tyres on my MTB for a gentle ride this coming half term.

Oh and the other side has agreed for me to have a consultation with an independent spinal consultant - they will pay, as I didn't get to see my consultant. My concerns are later on in life, or the next time I fall off my bike (there is ALWAYS a next time). I have five degrees of kyphosis now, rather than none (curvature of the spine). Things are progressing slowly, but I do feel there is a team of experts behind me. The case manager is great, and she is all for re-rehabilitation. We are still fighting to sort out sleeping for me, be it specialist mattress/bed to enable me and my wife to sleep in the same bed, or an extra fold away bed downstairs as I'm still on the settee.
