I bet you are finding things very familiar. For me, Australia just seemed to be a much better version of England.

I missed the culture whilst i was there. I know there is the aboriginal culture etc but i really missed all our beautiful buildings and history. Thoroughly enjoyed being there but it was not somewhere i could have settled for long.

I read an article yesterday on the BBC website about Brits who emigrated and then changed their mind after a few years... And architecture was one of the things they missed, and I gathered it was quite long working hours too.

Sounded like the best bits of both islands would be a good combination!

Luckily same length working hours for my OH. Plus within a day or two of same annual leave (something to do with public holidays) and can still purchase extra days as needed.

The biggest difference appears to be the pay day. It's the 15th of the month, not the end of the month. Ahhhhhhhh which he had told me that before we came out. I would have brought more cash over to put into our new bank account!

A friend at work emigrated and transferred to New Zealand to work in the Police. He came back after 5 years as he couldn't deal with their backward attitude and it was like working in the UK 15 years ago. His wife had serious problems, she was a Police Officer too with sexism. She had never encountered it in the UK but over there it was rife.

I do think a combination of both Oz and the UK would be great, especially the weather.

It's now :rain:
