I am sooo shattered and Squidge has scouts tonight so that will be 10pm before I am done!

Tonight's dinner is sorted (just needs to go into the oven when we're ready). Roast duck with lemon, steamed potatoes, honey and sesame carrots, and asparagus. Fresh fruit salad for desert.

I just opened a bottle of Amarone and am letting it breathe.

Can't wait! What time do you want me to arrive?

Tonight Lu is cooking so we are having cottage pie with a red wine gravy and cheesy mash.

Every day on my way home I walk past a house which looks like it is about to crumble. The front windows have holes in them stuffed with carrier bags and the frames themselves have almost given up. Trees and bushes have taken over and are growing through the walls, windows and front door. This has been like this for a couple of years. On my way home today there was a skip outside and white goods piled up, they were very old and filty so I should imagine the place must stink. Good luck to whoever is clearing that out.

A good mate of mine asked via Facebook if anyone could fix bikes, or knew anyone. I offered and he finally dropped it off today. It was his youngster's bike.

It was in a right state, having been left outside. It had hardly been ridden, but the chain was solid orange rust, the mechs had completely seized and the gears had no chance of moving.

I said I'd do it for parts and managed to get a freewheel, chain, tubes, gear inners and outers for £30.

Think I've done OK polishing a turd. There is a classic error !

Yep. God knows how he rode it. It's bloody horrible to ride anyway, bangy suspension and feels like a jelly to ride. At least the gears work perfectly now and the brakes.
