The BT hub is great and even better with the fact he has a gaming PC that uses gigabit lan, because wifi is too slow. Login to the router from my phone or PC and bang, it's off.

It's his own lookout. It's a year early but they do part of the REAL GCSE science exams this year, then mocks for the others later in the month, then next year. He is a bright lad, A grade capable, but he won't revise. They won't be 'advised'.
What's a Gigabit Ian... It sounds like an enormous version of my mate Ian!

Sorry Gigabit LAN - wired connection to the router from his PC - old skool but way faster than WIFI. :laugh:

Bang bang, he is still in a mood (from upstairs). Temper temper.... Hasn't helped at home, but we are 'always on his back' - no, we cook, weigh your food for you, tell you what carbs about 5 times before you remember, then wash up. And I'm the idiot with a broken back. Hard life teenagers.

Just wait till you get a job..oops, we have a thread like that now and you also want to ride your bike !!

I thought you worked in IT - or did I dream that? I probably did - my grip on reality is slipping these days.
:rofl::rofl::rofl:
Years ago I wrote software but when it was my turn to get near the physical stuff it usually went wrong.... I remember loading software onto the the top directory of a computer system late at night in a live setting and having to hand pick it out, another time when we used to have a back up rota and lift out those big disk packs... It all got stuck and I had to call in help.... I think you are muddling me with @SatNavSaysStraightOn who is far more technical than me and understands when Shaun says things.... They then translate it into simple speak for me!:whistle:

Ikea visit went relatively painless (apart from the wallet). Staff gave us bags and a trolly on arrival, went to the cafe and had breakfast. Bought a work table thingy for the summer house, then spotted one of those 'lean over' garden parasols for £40, ideal for the decking. Dived back and bought that. Wife then decided we need to see a dining table in BHS, so that's now ordered, but my debit card declined it - that was the third hit on a furniture shop in a couple of hours for a few hundred..... (anti fraud rubbish), she had to put it on her card... My debit card worked for two small purchases at Homebase and Iceland later.

Grumblin at Garmin on the Granny Gear
Son tried the "we need gigabit LAN in the shed" .... nope, the cable run is stupid and not protected. Used a powerline wifi extender to the garage, so the garden, and the shed on the other side of the garage, get WIFI at 300mbps.

Neither of the kids has used the 'shed' / summerhouse since wifi'ed and powered up !!! :evil::gun:

Just hope none of your neighbour is a radio amateur. Those powerline units are RF noisy.
