There was a Science fiction movie called Them, in which Leonard Nimoy had a bit part as an army sergeant. Walt Disney viewed the film. looking for a star for his series Davy Crockett. He was looking at the performance of James Arness, but instead opted for Fess Parker, who was in a small role as an airplane pilot judged insane because he claimed his plane was destroyed by giant flying ants. But James Arness' work was interesting to John Wayne, who recommended him for Gunsmoke. James Arness' brother was Peter Graves, who starred in Mission Impossible. Leonard Nimoy for the last two years of that show, played "The Great Paris", one of the agents who was a master of illusion and disguise. Small world.
